How do you find help for a family in need for christmas?

I’m going crazy here…the rotary club for my area has a website and I swear nothing and I mean nothing works on it. It’s like they didn’t put any link on their site and my family is going to desperately need help this christmas or we won’t be having christmas.Someone told me that all you have to do is ask and the rotary club will bring you a nice christmas dinner. That would be great.Does anyone know of any other organizations that I could try?I have me, my mom and two little brothers. Thanks everyone for your help!

Here I am, Saturday, 3;16 pm, putting in extra ours because I want that many families can benefit from the Christmas assistance that the organization I work with provides. Perhaps my commitment helps to answer to your question.

Do you belong to a church, they will help. If you don’t, contact a church in your area and ask they know of someone to help. I don’t know about the Rotary Club, but many other community organizations help families at Christmas. Try Salvation Army, they help families through the year and just not at Christmas.

I pray for you and your family to have Merry Christmas.

Try asking your question at :

    - Churches in your neighborhood
    - The police station
    - The fire station

Any of the above should have a list of charity organizations.

Best of Luck to you !

Almost every town I have lived in for the last 25 years has a newspaper that sponsors a version of “season of sharing” . Contact your local newspaper and see if they do that also. When your story is featured donations go to a third party agency such as United Way to help you. Good luck!

a long time ago when i left my abusive husband and moved to a different state. i needed help for my girls and i contacted a church to see if they could help. they had families that actually adopted yours. you wrote down what the kids needed and age, sizes, male/female. they went shopping for you. it was very nice. another thing you could try is your local “goodfellows” they can also help. good luck.

I wish I had a great answer for you. I know The Salvation Army may help or United Way-They brought me X-mas dinner before and gifts for my 2 kids. I know it sucks to be down at x-mas time. Me and my friend and my son have until tomorrow (Sunday) to find somewhere to live. I work, but i just don’t make enough money and I still gotta get Junior X-mas gifts. Someone will help you. Check your local paper for help and churches. I hope you have a wonderful X-mas!

  7. Yeah, I found out from working with different churches, that they tend to get really involved around the holidays. Try even some local soup kitchens, fire departments, libraries, and maybe even your local high schools have can food drives.

god bless you. call a church in your area.

  11. Call your city hall or the mayor’s office. You will probably be connected to an office or assistant that can help you. They usually are aware of agencies that help people. Television stations also know of groups that do this kind of thing. Call your local station and ask for the news department. Google “free Thanksgiving meals, your town’s name” and those agencies probably do Christmas meals too.

  14. There are alot of churches that are out there helping with situations like this. Contact the Salvation Army i know that they are always doing things for people at Christmas in your situation. Also contact the local Board of Missions (Food Bank) and they can help you too. Good luck to you and your family and i wish you a blessed Christmas.

The Salvation Army has always been a good place to get donated meals for the holidays.

They have also given toys in the past.

Also, you could try the local Red Cross chapter in your area, Catholic Charities (you don’t have to be catholic to get their services)

    Or any local food bank.

We have a rotarry club in Nicarauga. You can help the kids of the Pajarito Azul Orphanage. They are kids with dissabilities and We don’t know if the would have chritsmas or anything like that. Think of the kids of the third wordl

  17. Sometimes your local church or school will give out information about the families in need and you can donate that way. Also, check your local city paper, sometimes you will find ads for charities that are in your area that help needy families.

call churches, salvation army, toys for tots, some schools pick kids to buy for . good luck . hope you have a merry christmas.

  19. Any local church should be able to help you or the Elks or Knights of Columbus organizations. Also, try the local food bank. They collect none perishables from various stores and corporations and then distribute to those in need. There is one in Hillside, NJ

l don’t know where you live, however I would try: (1) calling (via the phone) the “Salvation Army” (they help with food and toys), next (2) call “Catholic Charities” (that’s the name of the organization, its not just a collection of charities). Catholic Charities has a network of assistance in-house, and also with other social services, to help with ALL TYPES of NEEDS. They don’t care if you are not Catholic, and they help everyone in need regardless of their church/religion; and, (3) call the local office of “The United Way”, again they assist all people in need, especially through the holidays with Christmas. God Bless.

  21. Try ebays “giving works”. Call your local newspaper they may know or a local church.

will what i did one christmas for a family that was in need,
i dident have money at the time but i turned to my bishop in my church an told him about the family how they had no food or gifts
a few days before christmas the truck that my dad drives for the LDS church told me that he was bringin the food for the family home with him so i could bring it to them
an all the weman in my church worked together an got them all gifts, maybe if you belong to a church you could ask the men an weman to help you out on food an gifts you never can go wrong with asking the members in your church for help

Call your local churches, schools, and organizations such as United Way etc. They will all have lists or if you notice in the paper that a family has had a house fire or something…. contact the newspaper! You could even contact the radio station or ask co-workers or look down your own street… many people are too proud to sign up for programs but might really need the help…. anonymous drop off at their door might give some family a very merry Christmas!
