British North American Act
The British North American Act, commonly known as BNA Act, is part of the constitution of Canada. Constitution Act
The Constitution Act pertains to the government of Canada and it was implemented in 1867. The first 35 sections of the Constitution Act serve as the bill of rights for Canada. The formal name of it is The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In 1982 changes were made to the Constitution Act. It was after this act was accepted that Canada changed the name of their annual celebration of independence from Dominion Day to Independence Day.
This part of the Constitution Act is to give all citizens of Canada information about their rights. The government of Canada has to honor these rights under all conditions in order to stay in compliance. In addition to the bill of rights, the Constitution Act contains information on many other important issues. They include equal rights and equal opportunities for all of the citizens of Canada. The goal of this is to allow them to all be as prosperous as possible in society.
There is historical value in the fact that the Constitution Act of 1867 was the last one to be enacted by the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The interpretations of this legendary act continue to play out in the judicial system though. It seems that people can always be quite creative when it comes to how they want to perceive them to best benefit them.
As a result of this, the various attorneys in Canada are able to come up with some new information to benefit their clients. Landmark cases can be won based on the information that they gather within the Constitution Act. It also depends on how the information is presented. Canada Day is still celebrated each year on July 1st unless that happens to be a Sunday on the calendar. In that case it will be honored on the following day. This is a day to honor the independence of the country, the freedoms that are allowed due to the Constitution Act, and the benefits that all citizens of the country are able to benefit from today.
Canada Day
Canada Day is a National holiday in their part of the world that is a celebration of the freedom their country has enjoyed since July of 1867. The tradition of celebrating takes place each year on July 1st. However, if July 1st falls on a Sunday it is celebrated on the day after.
Most businesses in the area close down and people gather for a variety of festivities. There are some work forces that have to be readily available though including medical staff, fire department employees, and the police. It is the equivalent of the Fourth of July that is celebrated in the United States. There are often parades, political events, rallies, carnivals, picnics, and other forms of celebration that take place all across Canada. Many tourists to the area like to come during this time so that they can observe and take part in such festivities.
To conclude the activities at the end of Canada Day, there are elaborate firework shows. The sky is lit up with beautiful colors that explode in the air. The freedoms that people of Canada have may be taken for granted most of the time. However, on Canada Day people are able to reflect on why they have these freedoms.
The history of the events leading up to it are shared and carried on in traditional parades. Children also learn about the events so they can continue to carry them out as they get older as well. Canada Day is a celebration that seems to grow each year. People have their own traditions of how they celebrate it. Dominion Day
Dominion Day is the Canadian celebration of their freedom as a country that was implemented in 1867. Dominion Day is celebrated on July 1st each year with the exception of those years when it falls on a Sunday. Due to the religious events that take place on Sundays it is moved to July 2nd.
Many people commonly refer to Dominion Day as Canada Day now though. That is the official name for it since October 27, 1982. However, many older people like the heritage associated with the early name and they have chosen to keep it alive. To help celebrate this important day in the history of Canada, most businesses are closed so people can enjoy festivities.
There are plenty of local events that people can take part in. They include parades, fireworks, picnics, and even carnivals. People that have lived their entire lives in Canada come out to celebrate the many freedoms that they have enjoyed over the years. People from other countries also come to Canada during this time of year just to take part in the festivities.
Keeping the events that lead up to Dominion Day alive is very important. The younger generations need to understand the history that is important here. Too many times they get to focus on the fun filled days of celebrating but they don’t know what it all really means. The older generations of Canada strive to pass on their stories to the younger generations.
Schools also have various activities that teach children more about their heritage as well. Since Dominion Day takes place during the summer break though these activities have to be implemented towards the end of the school year. In most instances though these events result in the children being very excited about the upcoming event. The fact that they have a deeper understanding of the true meaning of the day is important.
Whether you call it Dominion Day or Canada Day, this is one of the most celebrated events of the year. People work hard to plan elaborate events that make the celebrations very memorable. Canada Day Activities
