The issue of gun control goes back much further than most people realize. In fact, there are pieces of information about the right to bare arms found in the Bill of Rights. This is why the issue of gun control continues to this day.

There are plenty of ways in which the right to bare arms has been interpreted in the court system. There is information to say that this right is for the state and not for individuals of each state. There are some states that offer plenty of freedom when it comes to guns as they feel they are going against the constitution if they don’t.

People often feel that they have a right to defend themselves. There are too many people that have an unfair advantage if they are approached by a rapist or a murderer. Having a gun as a form of self defense is allowed in 31 states. This right to bare arms doesn’t sit well with many in society though. They are afraid this gives people the wrong idea that violence can be solved with more violence.

The issue of the right to bare arms isn’t isolated to the United States though. Countries all over the world have had to come up with rules and regulations regarding it as well. They often have the same problems as we do when it comes to how these regulations are to be interpreted by society.

The issue of the right to bare arms vs. gun control isn’t going to end any time soon. It continues to escalate due to events taking place all the time. There are pros and cons to both sides of the issue though and political leaders continue to listen and do what they think will benefit the most people.

One of the biggest issues in favor of gun control is the never of violent acts that take place with them each year. With the media frenzy that circulates around these events the TV and the internet are full of information. Most of it blames easy access to guns for the brutality of the situation. As a result people can definitely get a bad opinion of them quickly.

Guns are often used in violent crimes because they are a weapon that gives someone complete control. Armed robbery, rape, muggings, and even car hijackings are often part of the violence associated with guns. With one in hand, the criminal has the control they need over the individual. Most people understand the odds aren’t in their favor if they try to run from a gun. This can result in them staying right where the criminal wants them.

Random acts of violence around the nation involving guns have certainly increased over the years. Over the holiday season a young man opened fire in a shopping mall and killed several innocent people. Domestic disputes are ending in tragedy due to the use of a gun and upset employees are returning to the worksite with a gun in hand.

While some of them have been stopped before too much damage could be done others have results in mass bloodshed that will never be forgotten.

Gangs are a problem in our society, and they are often associated with gun violence as well. They may be shooting at rival gang members, police, or innocent people in the way. It is common for guns and acts of violence to be part of the initiation process into the gang.

Guns themselves aren’t violent, people are but the way they are using them brings the blame game to the table. Many states have gotten stricter on violent acts that involve guns. They are also prosecuting those that possess guns illegally or that purchase guns for underage individuals.

Gun Control

Gun control is an issue that gets many people upset quickly. There are many sides to the issue and all is not black and white. For those that have been the victim of a gun related crime they see things very differently than someone that uses guns to hunt as it is their favorite sport. Statistics show that 49% of all households have at least one type of gun in them. This means that a great deal of the population has used a gun for some purpose.

The amount of people lobbying for stricter guidelines for gun control is very high. They don’t want to take away the right to own guns, they just want more to be done to select who can get them and when. Due to the various lobbying ideas there is a 48 hour waiting period as well as a background check before a person can buy a gun.

There are also laws in place that relate to the age to buy a firearm. In most states it is 18 years of age. They can still go hunting and shooting though as long as they have an adult with them at all times. There are also states that don’t allow anyone with a felony to possess a gun for any reason.

One of the hottest issues relating to gun control involves the concept of people having guns for self defense. The Make My Day Law allows people to shoot at intruders that enter their homes or their businesses. Yet many people believe countering violence with guns just further promotes it.

With so many acts of violence taking place in this country involving guns, the troops rallying for more in the way of gun control have plenty of ammunition to take to the podium. The issue of gun politics continues to be one of the top issues that is dealt with at all levels of the government. However, it is the never of guns that fall into the wrong hands that have created such turmoil. Gun Control & Self Defense

Can there really be a good line between gun control and having one available for self defense? Many believe that there is by implementing various requirements for people to legally possess guns. It is hard to determine just how effective these guidelines are though in terms of preventing guns from getting into the wrong hands. We hear so much about it when it happens, but we don’t hear about those that applied for a gun and were denied.

Most states require a person to apply for a gun and they have to pass a background check. If they have any felonies, warrants, and in some areas even reports of domestic violence they won’t be allowed to buy a gun. Yet we all know there are plenty of guns for sale on the black market. This type of check only prevents a person from buying one from an authorized dealer.

However, if you are truly intending to use the gun for self defense you have no reason not to get one from such an entity. Registering the gun is a great way to help you track it down if it is stolen or used in a crime. Law enforcement will do this work for you but you also need to be able to remove yourself as a suspect in the events.

There are also laws that require you to wait 48 hours before you can get the gun. This is considered to be a cooling off period for those that may be considering it for other means. This type of gun control was implemented after people were buying guns and then shooting spouses and lovers that they were mad at.

Under the terms of gun control, those that possess guns illegally can face legal penalties including fines and jail time. They can also be held liable if they supply guns to others and they use them in crimes. This is all to deter people from profiting from the sales of guns on the black market.

The issue of the right to bare arms comes into play for self defense. People often feel comfortable knowing they have a gun to readily access in situations where they have no other options. With the concepts of gun control in place though fewer guns are getting out there to people who have other plans for them.
