Afterlife
There is plenty of speculation about what happens to us after we die. While our bodies remain on Earth to be buried or cremated with ashes spread, what happens to the soul? Many people believe there is something better on the other side after we leave this world. What that consists of is very different based on religious beliefs, the culture you are part of, and your personal beliefs.
The biggest concepts about an afterlife involve the idea that people will go to either Heaven or Hell. It depends on the choices they make on Earth as to where they will end up. Even those that have done terrible things in their life can be forgiven by a higher power if they do the right thing and accept Christ into their hearts.
There are people out there that don’t place a whole lot of stock in Heaven or Hell though. They do believe in a type of spiritual transformation though. This often encompasses the ideals of reincarnation. This is the process of coming back to Earth in another form as another person or animal. Some people claim to have strong memories of a past life they were a part of.
There are those that do not believe in any type of afterlife. This doesn’t mean they are mean people though. Some of the most caring and compassionate people that die have no religious affiliation. They believe when your life is over you are done forever and all that lives on is what you will be remembered for. They often have a strong preference about being either buried for cremated as that will be their last place to lay.
The ceremonies to honor the life of a person often reflect their afterlife beliefs. For those that don’t believe in something afterwards the celebration is focused on the good things in their life. It is to give people time to reflect and store their own good memories with that person.
For those that do believe in an afterlife, people mourning for them can find comfort in knowing that they may be in a much better place. Sometimes it leads you to wonder is the afterlife information we have isn’t for the living to cope more than it is for the dead to embrace.
Heaven Books
If you are looking for books that have a reference to Heaven you won’t have any trouble finding them. Some are lighthearted and others really make you think about the possibilities of an afterlife. There are Heaven books that are appropriate for children as well as those geared for people that have a terminal illness. The type of Heaven books you are interested in depends on where you are in your own life and what events are taking place around you.
The Bible is the number on book that people turn to for references about Heaven. While the entire book isn’t about Heaven there is definitely enough information offered in it to help people find what they are looking for. Perhaps particular passages will point you in a certain direction for your life. Sometimes more questions come up though as you start reading about Heaven in the Bible.
If you are looking for a book to help you cope with the loss of someone you are sure when to Heaven, read “In Light of Eternity” by Randy Alcom. This book will really challenge you to take a look at your own personal beliefs. You will need to be willing to honestly reflect on the information you find though so you can heal and move forward in your own life. This is a very comforting book though no matter what you own beliefs about Heaven are.
“90 Minutes in Heaven” is a great book as well. This story is written by Don Piper who is a minister. He was declared legally dead at the scene of a car accident. He was later revived by medical professionals. However, he has detailed memories of seeing people from his life in Heaven and hearing amazing music. His faith is even stronger than ever about an afterlife since this experience.
If you haven’t made up your own mind about Heaven, turn to some different books to get information. Remember that most of them will be very biased in a particular direction. Don’t take everything you read in them at face value. Allow yourself to openly question the material that is covered. Write down any questions you may have as well so that you can look for answers later on from other sources of information.
Heaven & Hell
Heaven & Hell are two concepts that continue to be in circulation around the Earth. Heaven is associated with goodness while Hell is associated with evil. In most books and movies, good always conquers evil in the end even though it may be a long and hard battle.
Many of us rage our own battles inside over good and evil when it comes to the decisions we will make. While it is fun to think of the image of a little angel and a little devil sitting on your shoulder, the reality of it is that we often know the right choice to make but it is up to us to do it or not.
In many religions, people believe in both Heaven & Hell. They don’t believe one of them can exist without they other. In the afterlife, those that have asked for forgiveness from their sins are allowed to enter Heaven. Those that choose not to do so will find themselves in the flames of Hell for all eternity.
The concept of Heaven & Hell can be scary for children at times when they are younger because they may be afraid of where they or someone they care about will end up. In the movies and in books, Heaven is always portrayed as a wonderful place to go. It is peaceful and beautiful. Hell is always portrayed as a hot place where people will forever be unhappy.
Choosing where to spend your eternal life isn’t something most people worry about on a daily basis. The thing is though that you don’t know when your last day will come. Being prepared for it is part of the decision you make for your future. Yet for those that don’t believe in an afterlife, this is a moot point. Religion and faith are areas where people can have significant points of view.
Some people have a very interesting twist on the concept of Heaven and Hell. They believe we all start out in Hell which is Earth. When we die we have the ability to go to Heaven and remain there. However, if we don’t believe in it or we aren’t saved then we are reincarnated and brought back to the Earth to do it all over again.
Heaven
Heaven is believed to exist up above the clouds, where God, Jesus, and the angels are. It is believed that if you are a good person on Earth you will be embraced at the gates of Heaven to go inside. There you will be reunited with others you have lost from this Earth. There is no pain there, only joy and happiness. It is this belief that often helps people accept that someone they love has left this world.
There are plenty of books, movies, and stories about Heaven that circulate in our society. Everything is often portrayed as being very peaceful and white in color. There are groups of people that aren’t very happy about the conceptions of Heaven being modified for various forms of entertainment. In the shows Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty God was portrayed as a black man. Other movies have portrayed God as a woman and that doesn’t seem to fit well either.
Many people base their beliefs about Heaven on the Bible. They want this to be the only interpretation of it that they are exposed to. Yet even those not familiar with the Bible often believe in Heaven. They definitely want to have faith that there is something more than what we experience here on Earth. Many different religions explore the idea of Heaven even though their overall beliefs can be quite different from each other.
No one really knows if Heaven exists or not. There are plenty of accounts of people that have had near death experiences. Some of them were even legally dead in all sense of the word for a period of time. They were brought back by medical professionals and able to recount extraordinary stories. Most of them involve an inviting white light and a sense of freedom.
Your own beliefs in Heaven may influence your decisions on Earth as well. For example some people fight terminal illnesses and put all their faith into modern science. Others don’t fight as they feel it is their time to be called to Heaven. These decisions can be hard for those with different beliefs to understand. Yet the views of Heaven each of us have need to be respected as they are a part of who we are.

Music is about so many different types of subjects, and Heaven is certainly among them. Heaven songs can be found in many different types of music too including gospel, country, and rock and roll. Heaven songs are often sung in Church by the congregation and by the choir.
Some people say the song Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin is one of the most popular songs about heaven. It is definitely one of the longest at almost five minutes in length. Since Led Zeppelin is a rock and roll band it really shows the diversity that this particular subject has found in the world of music.
Others would definitely say the song I Can Only Imagine by MercyMe is the ultimate Heaven song. The song is very uplifting and anyone that has grieved over the loss of someone they loved with really enjoy it. It talks about what will be said to Jesus when you arrive in Heaven. The ideal songs for Heaven portrayed in various books and movies include those on harps. Too many in society with a musical influence don’t want to spend eternity in a place where all they hear is the type of music you would get in an elevator or in a doctor’s office. As a result they really want to leave a legacy of heaven related music around to choose from.
Music has forever been a valuable part of any given culture. You will find Heaven songs that fit in well across the board. Some of them are well known as extremely popular.
