In 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. stood on the front steps of the Lincoln Memorial and gave the I Have a Dream Speech. This was to encourage equality for all people in society regardless of their color. He had a vision of racial barriers and tensions coming down. While these issues were still fresh in the court system, they had been a part of society for eternity.
While these issues still exist in many areas they aren’t to the degree they once were.
