The Pakistani govt has blocked access to youtube over pictures of Mohammed. After repeated attempts to have youtube remove the pictures, and repeated failures, the government blocked access. Facebook has also been blocked.
It welcomed representatives from the two websites to contact the Pakistani government to resolve the dispute in a way that “ensures religious harmony and respect.”
The regulatory body said it has blocked more than 450 Internet links containing offensive material, but it is unclear how many of the links were blocked in the last two days. Access to the online encyclopedia site Wikipedia and the photo sharing site Flickr also was restricted Thursday.

My question:
Is censorship a way to “ensure religious harmony and respect”? Or is it an attempt to terrorize ? To bring worldwide networking sites under their control?
Personally I dont give a squat if Pakistan ever unblocks youtube or not. That is unimportant. They can do whatever they want…..OVER THERE. I am concerned with Islamic censorship of ANYTHING critical of their faith.
Geert Wilders documentary “Fitma” is a prime example. After three days youtube “bowed down” to their terroristic threats and pulled the video. Guess what? Its baaaaack.

Despite their efforts to simply block. The Pakistani people can get updates on how the group is doing via other methods. Apparently the Facebook group has grown rapidly to over 35,000 members and is still growing.
Some Muslims have even threatened to kill people who ”mock” their prophet yet they claim Islam is peaceful and noone should be killed. What’s going on there.

This is a prime example of why I am so grateful to live in America. I think it’s more a way to control citizens… I haven’t thought about it being used to control the sites, but that’s a good point.
The Pakistani government is doing what it can to maintain civil order, and that reflects the desires of the 95% of it’s population who are Muslim. Americans who think the United States is a “Christian” nation and want “Christian” values imposed should take a lesson from this censorship and loss of liberty.
Religious freedom was implemented in this country in the hopes that oppression would not happen, like what was going on in many other nations. It seems like America is headed more towards religious intolerance. It’s hard to tackle, because some religions teach hatred or forced conversion. I am against censorship. The founders implemented freedom of speech because it was a good idea. They knew what was going on in other countries and witnessed what these countries were like without it. For some reason people like to repeat past mistakes believing they are new and innovative ideas.
Pakistan don’t have to follow your moral of nudity and religion abusing culture…..

Pakistan has their own government and their own rules. They can block or ban anything they wish.
